The Half Moon Lake (more commonly known as Crescent Moon Lake or Moon Lake) is a man-made, crescent-shaped desert oasis located deep within the Al Qudra Desert area. It is part of the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve and has become a popular “hidden gem” for photography and quiet desert escapes.

  • Access: You must have a 4×4 vehicle. The final 15–20 minutes of the journey involves driving over soft, unpaved sand tracks.
  • Facilities: There are no facilities (toilets, shops, or shade) at the lake. The nearest stop for food and restrooms is Last Exit Al Qudra, about 20–25 minutes away.
  • Best Time: Visit during the cooler months (October to March). Sunrise and sunset offer the best lighting for photos and the highest chance of spotting wildlife like Arabian oryx and gazelles.
  • Cost: Entry is free
